Exercise as Your Stress Reliever

As a society our lives have changed dramatically over the years. We sit in offices in front of computers at desks for hours at a time and rarely even see the sun most days. If we do it is from a tiny window or if we are really lucky a big window. We run from errand to errand "doing" life. We rarely have a moment of relaxation and if/when we do we turn on some electronic (TV, computer, phone). We hardly ever walk anywhere let alone run but instead drive most places even if it is only a mile to the grocery store. We live under florescent lights and are confined to our "boxes" whether that be the office or home.

Things have changed and now many people's bodies are telling the truth. They are stiff, they hurt, they have illnesses and diseases. There are so many unhealthy options in life that make life "easy". Easy is not always the route to take and we are noticing that the easy way of feeding our bodies with fast food, constant eating out, eating processed foods and even not eating have become the norm for many people. We see a lot of people eating as a way to relieve stress as it does comfort us and often times numbs us even if it may only be for a few moments. We have been trading our stress for a quick fix of cozy comfort food or feelings of euphoria with sugar or even completely numbing our bodies.

Although exercise may be the "hard" route it is a path that leads to health and happiness long term. Moving our bodies, getting them out into the fresh air and allowing the sun to nurture us while moving the energy that is pent up all day long inside of us is key. The reason things get stagnant in life, including in our bodies, is because we get into our comfort zones. We let things settle and sit. Nothing moves, nothing changes and then it become habit. We need to change our patterns and start moving. Exercise can look many different ways and if it means you start slow by taking a five minute walk everyday do it. If it means building your health foundation slowly and listening to your body, do it.

This is your life ultimately, no one elses. The only way you will make long lasting healthy changes is by changing your patterns and playing with the formulas that work for you. Each person is different in what they need to get and stay motivated but it all comes down to you. Do you want it? Do you want health, happiness and a foundation that you can build on for a lifetime? Do you want a life full of disease and illness, pain and discomfort? Do you want to move, to live fully, to communicate with your body, to be in touch with it and not numb it or treat it as a secondary thing? The choice is yours always. We are here to share our passion of health, nutrition, exercise and well being with others. Are you ready?
